Cookie Wins the Patrons

All the top brass were out on the river on board M&M’s for the Patrons Trophy Time Trial. From the Commodore down, all the flag officers and their partners enjoyed a magical afternoon on the water. It certainly didn’t put Vice Commodore Michael Cook and navigator Maria off their game. Congratulations on a great score of five for least points and handicap score of 11 to win the Patrons Trophy. On Saturday evening for results, it was great to see so many uniforms! We welcomed our Patron, PC Colin Cowden, who looked splendid in his square rig and stood alongside no less than six other uniformed flags and captains. Of course there were plenty of giggles and bell rings with trays of ports and champagne to celebrate the winners and misdemeanours.

In second place behind M&Ms, were Nearly Nineteen, Stephen Elliott and PC Paul Ward with handicap score of 12 followed by high handicapped team Purffect John and Lynne Cooper with 24 points.

In the Starboard fleet, Vern and Judy on Holidaze were on the podium again this time in first place with 14 points, followed by IPC Phil and Pam Warwick on Time Out with 16 and Chilly Mussel Steve and Julie Leech with 19 points.

The sight of Indiana with Brian Smith and former starter Garry Morrison manning the checkpoint at Deepwater was a bit daunting. Knowing they’d be looking closely for any digression from the rules, 3 teams wore a 10 point Change of Speed penalty, while others copped a big score at the mark to avoid the penalty. Brian has unselfishly forgone competing in the last 2 events to trial some new software for check boats. Thank you, Brian and Tina.
