Flying Fifteen Update 10.10.17
Flying Fifteen update 8th October 17
Last Sunday saw the fleet sailing under almost idyllic conditions- it could have been a little warmer though! The breeze was very consistent averaging between 11 to 13 knots from the south west.
John Wilson and Matt Summers on Ffast Lane 4 sailed very well, taking fastest time in all three races. Handicap honours were shared by Jen Sims and Doug Cowie on Yes No Maybe in Races 1 and 2, with Carl and Kristine Pettersson winning Race 3.
Word from Belgium has arrived outlining the exploits of travelling sailsman John Hassen.
“We and BEL 3915 each had scores of 111222 after 2 discards and as they beat us over the line in the last race they won on a countback. This was my second visit to sail in the Belgium Nationals for what can only be described as gastro sailing – lots of eating and drinking with some sailing as well.
Third only three points behind was Nick Heath from the UK. The event was sponsored by a Belgium brewery and cheese maker, Chimay, and our prize fills my suitcase and puts me over the alcohol limit going back to Australia. Bruce is keeping the cheeses as he is staying on for another 10 days before returning to Canada.
It has been a good trip but I am not looking forward to the drive back to England to store the boat tomorrow and the flight home late Tuesday in time for the first heat of the Club Championships with Mr FInch who is making a comeback!”
Looking forward to welcoming John home on the weekend.
