Before the announcement of the results for the Colin Wilson Trophy Bernie Kaaks had a confession to make. Due to a handicap error, Amazon had been awarded first place in the starboard fleet for State Heat #4 whereas Tarnatchy Plus 2 was the rightful winner. A mea culpa from Bernie, a flag to Tracy and Anthony, and all was forgiven. Bernie’s excuse…. an extra glass of red!  Question: Can the Power Section Administrator qualify for the Bent Prop Award?

Power Captain Amanda Watson welcomed Colin Wilson’s daughter Megan Berry to present the Colin Wilson Trophy. Troy Dalglish presented Megan with a 25 year Pin and Certificate to honour Colin’s long and distinguished involvement with the Club. His legendary contribution includes life membership and the positions of Commodore and General Manager, and he retired from the start team only recently – at age 91. Now 93, Colin truly deserves the title ‘most senior member’ of our Club.

There was a two-way tie for the Colin Wilson Trophy for 2017 with Amazon: Skipper Steve Wall; Navigator Amanda Watson and Thanet: Skipper Guy Skinner; Navigator Richard Evans both completing the course with a loss of 7 points.

Comings and goings:

Ray Gulloto and Steve Harrison (At the Office) were welcomed to the Power Section.

The team for State Heat #5 was announced:

Interesting Fact #18:

Rumour has it Starter Garry Morrison recently discovered that the start gun is like lightning – it doesn’t strike twice.  His attempt to get a second shot out of the same cartridge gave neither bang nor whimper, but a resounding round of silence for the 5 minute warning.  But it seems no-one noticed and he got away with it…. this time!  Definitely Bent Prop potential though, as is forgetting to give green flags to the Checkpointers…
