Sunsail Mariner Boating Twilights

The twilight season at South of Perth Yacht Club finished last Wednesday night, and with an interesting departure from the tradition of the winners taking home the prizes. The major prizes were won by members that had competed during the summer, and not only the skippers, but also the crews.

The series sponsors, Sunsail and Mariner Boating, each put up a fantastic sailing holiday from one of the many locations they operate from. Sunsail based in the Whitsundays offered crew members a 5 night bare boat charter on a lavishly appointed 35 foot yacht and was won by junior member Mathew Hansen who sailed the season with well known sailing father Craig on his grandfather’s H28, Napea of Carrick, a true family effort.

The major prize of a trip for 2 on the Phuket to Langkawi Yacht Rally was sponsored by Mariner Boating, a specialist boating holiday travel agent.  Sailing in and around the islands on the Andaman Sea between Thailand and Malaysia, the winner, Barry Arnold, will enjoy 2 weeks in some of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. Katana Vick from Mariner Boating presented both winners their prizes with Mathew Hansen taking the time to thank the sponsors for the support of the series and also his Mum and Dad for taking him sailing during the year.

“It is great to see such a family environment at South of Perth, and such wonderful winners” Katana Vick noted after presentations. The night continued on with members celebrating a successful season and dancing the night away to jazz by overseas singer Marilyn Keller and her International Jazz Friends playing Gospel and New Orleans Dixieland Jazz.
