FLYING FIFTEEN UPDATE – Opening Day 1 October 2017

It was great to see 13 starters line up on Opening Day.  All promises to be a great season with good numbers for fifteeners, given that not everyone was able to sail on the day.  I am expecting four more to sail once people return from holidays and complete their winter refits.

FF1

A big welcome to the fleet for Simon Stone and Leanne Fallows sailing on Final Fling which has come  over from Canberra.  Also, welcome to Richard Warren who has teamed up with John Lyus on FFoenix.  And not to forget the return of Stuart and Narelle Paisley on Vengeance.

FF2

Sailing conditions were light and flukey on the day but the racing was sailed in good spirit. Congratulations to John Midolo and Gordon Roe sailing FFancy Classique on winning the Mel Crosby Opening Day Handicap Winner Trophy, and Patron’s Trophy.  Second was Yes No Maybe sailed by Jen Sims and Doug Cowie and third was Faffin saaild by Carl and Kristine Pettersson.  Fastest was Spot the Difference sailed by Greg Tonnison and Graeme Lillingston.

FF3

Thanks to John Wilson for his donation of vital refreshments on the day. And a big thank you also to Les and the Start Team for putting up with us all for another season.

Next week (8 October) three multiple races are scheduled, commencing at 1325.

See you then.
