Flying Fifteen Update 1.5.17
In the category of saved the best till last: Sunday’s closing day of centreboard sailing makes the grade; warm, consistent breeze, good fleet, tight finishes, some lovely reaching angles, free beer (after racing) and a delicious meal with good company in the clubhouse. A terrific finale to our summer season. Thanks to all those who did all the things that are needed to conduct yacht races in a safe and timely fashion.
Greg Tonninson is running short of world champions to crew with him having sailed with Janet Jerwood for the State Championships over Easter, Graeme Lillingston last week and Nic Jerwood this week. Sailing Spot the Difference, Greg and Nic were second in the first race after which Nic wrestled the tiller away for the second race and promptly built a handy lead before discovering they were OCS. A minor blemish that can happen to the best.
Chris and Ed (Storyteller) were fastest in races 1 and 3 and Andrew and Anne (A2) fastest in race 2. Having not been on a Flying Fifteen for two years, Adam Semple teamed up with Jen on Oui, Non, Peut-etre to win the first two races on consistency.
Upon returning to the jetty, Gordon did a Classique dismount that was not very Ffancy that will make for some very sore hamstrings come Monday morning.
Presentation night is Friday 26 of May with bookings to be made through the office. The Solo development series starts in a couple of weeks so not much time to put your feet up!
