Wednesday Keelboat Results

The removalists have been in and relocated the Wednesday Keelboat results to a new address.

To view Midweek Series results as well as the Twilight results, please click here.

Please update your saved bookmarks if necessary. This move takes some of the congestion out of the previous single results page.

New Online Forms

To make life just that bit easier, we have made online forms as an alternative to using paper.

Scoring Enquiry Form

Retirement Form

Change of Helm/Equipment/Crew Form

AMS / SMS Measuring Booking Form

Man Overboard Dummy Booking Form

Once submitted, these forms come direct to the On Water Group office to be actioned. The old fashioned paper forms are still available in the foyer outside the On Water Group office.

Centreboard Clubhouse Wifi

Recently our IT guys have revved up the wifi signal so now it covers a much wider area. This should be most noticeable for Off The Beach sailors when in the vicinity of the Centreboard Clubhouse.

Just look for the SOPYC – PUBLIC network on your electronic devices.

Substitution of Skippers

This is important as substitution of skippers occurs across all sailing sections from time to time. Without repeating word for word from NoR 3.2, there are 3 substitutions per boat permitted for the following events:

  • Keelboat Saturday Series – Consistency or Club Championship racing
  • Keelboat Midweek Series – Consistency racing
  • Off The Beach Series – Consistency racing

  • Off The Beach Club Championship series – NO Substitution permitted.

If you wish to make a substitution, it needs to be done in writing, either on the Change of Helm paper form or using the online form. The Race Committee need to approve, the Handicapper needs to review and the On Water Group need to keep track of all changes. Thank you!

Nominating for Sailing Events

The process for nominating for sailing events has not changed, however we wish to point out that it is not the responsibility of On Water Group staff to ensure your boat is nominated as the process is readily available online and simple enough to follow. The On Water Group staff are happy to enter boats on behalf of skippers when requested, but ultimately it is up to the Skipper to check that their boat is nominated correctly.

There are 4 ways to check that your boat is nominated:

  • Check Series Entrants List – Once a boat has been nominated, the boat automatically appears in the Entrants List.

Keelboats Entrants List (click here) Off The Beach Entrants List (click here). On Water Group staff have zero involvement in this process.

  • Acknowledgment Email – A skipper will simultaneously receive an email confirming the boat’s nomination. Again this is automatically generated.
  • Check the Entrants sheets – Entrants including handicaps are posted to the Official Noticeboard for Keelboats. Please check before sailing off for the starting line.
  • Check on your results page – The same Entrants sheets posted to the noticeboard are available on your results page.

As the Notice of Race states, a boat’s nomination shall be lodged 24 hours prior to its first race. This allows sufficient time for Handicappers to check handicaps and the Start team to have the most up to date list of entrants.

Please note that the nomination process no longer requires skippers to lodge copies of their boat insurance. Boats stored at the Club only need to ensure that the Front Office Administration has at all times, a copy of your current Certificate of Insurance. Reminders prior to insurance policies expiring are emailed out to boat owners from the office.
