DIVISION ONE

The biggest yachts in the Club comprise Division 1, ranging from 34 ft (10.4 m) cruising displacement hull boats up to 60 ft (18 m) plus ocean racers. Many of the Division 1 boats race regularly offshore, but on a typical Saturday afternoon there will still be 12-15 boats competing on the river in our Club events. The fleet is very competitive and a handicapping system ensures all boats in the fleet, no matter how fast or slow, are given a chance of winning the races.

Classes of boats in Division 1 include S&S 34’s, UFO 34’s, Farr 9.2’s, 40’s and 45’s and S 97’s. The fleet includes classic WA ocean racing names like Walk On The Wild Side, Syrenka, Prime Minister, and Farrago.

Most of the Division 1 yachts require a minimum of 6 crew members, and skippers are always on the lookout for new recruits. New owners and crew members will be made most welcome as part of the Division 1 community.
