CRUISING
The cruising section of the Club is all about laid-back recreational boating. With activities that appeal to those of us who just want to get out on the water with our friends and families and enjoy our fabulous river and coast.
The second Thursday in the month is our regular meeting time with a range of technical, travel and training presentations taking place in the Heritage room at 1930 hours. We have spent evenings cruising the French canals, learning about basic & advanced Radio equipment and techniques, also recently a very informative session with the Fremantle Sea Rescue. A great way to meet new members are the Progressive Dinners (in the pens) These are always fabulous fun whether they are on balmy summer evenings in the cockpit or cold winter nights, cosy in the cabin. The food is always great, the wine copious and the laughter non-stop.During the better weather, we cruise to Fremantle for Fish & Chips plus a visit to the Fremantle Maritime Museum, or make our way to Matilda and Freshwater Bay’s for Lunch or sensational Sundowners with Cocktails in the Cockpit and wonderful picnics on the grass, with just the odd glass of Champagne….. Sunday breakfast get togethers in the Club and on Perth water for events like the Lord Mayors Rowing Cup.
Some of our major fleet events are the Jazz & Wooden Boat Festival in Claisebrook Cove, Cruising in Company to Garden Island, Mandurah, Quindalup, Two Rocks etc. Up river cruises for picnics or to the vineyards and the Classic Launch Spectator fleet for SoPYC’s Invitation Wooden Boat Race. There is always something happening in the Cruising Division (on and off the water) so come and see what we are up to. A great time is assured.
