Optimist & Pacer Dinghies

Novice Sailing

The Sailing Academy conducts classes for school groups.

Introductory Small Boat Sailing for adults and family groups

The South of Perth Sailing Academy runs private lessons at the request of individuals.

The South of Perth Yacht Club conducts class training on Sunday mornings prior to racing for the various junior & youth classes.

The RST has recently become government legislation and is required by anyone in charge of a vessel.

Practical training in handling small powered craft is available for those who wish to sit the RST but feel they should brush up on their boat handling skills.

This course is held over three evenings followed by a practical on water session.

Operators of marine radios on vessels and at maritime coast stations, other than those operating solely on 27 MHz frequencies, are required to hold a relevant Australian Marine Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency or an equivalent overseas qualification.

Designed as an upgrade course from Recreational Skippers Ticket to the nationally recognised YA National Powerboat Handling Certificate.

The National Safety Boat Course covers the additional competencies associated with handling a safety boat.

The SSSC course is a practical and theoretical course which is competed over two days by Yachting Australia Recognised Training Centres.

Instructor training courses for both dinghy and keelboat sailing are conducted periodically throughout the year at recognised Yachting Australia training centres
